No, UK Did Not Say That "China is Committing Genocide of Uyghurs"
Debunking fake news and virtue signaling
Fake news mainstream media and social media influencers have been screaming for the last 24 hours that “UK says China is committing genocide against Uyghurs.” Once again, anti-Chinese propaganda involves hysteria, exaggeration and distortion. No, the country of United Kingdom did not pass any such bill or make a formal statement. Instead, the drama was orchestrated by a tiny group of anti-China zealots who do not represent the entire country. Let’s explain:
**1. On April 22, the UK’s House of Commons passed a NON-BINDING resolution which asserted that China is committing genocide. “Non-binding” means it is not even a bill and has no effect on the government of the UK. This is just virtue-signaling.
**2. To represent the entire Britain, a resolution must pass five stages of deliberations in each of the two chambers — House of Commons and House of Lords — and be approved by the Queen. Thus, this resolution is just political posturing — just like what happened in Canada and the Netherlands.
**3. Wait, it gets better. There are 650 members in the British House of Commons. Guess how many voted for this sensational gimmick? About 22 people voted for this resolution!!! Here’s the photo of actual proceedings on this genocide bill:
Here’s Nus Ghani, the virulently anti-China MP, reading her resolution to all of her 20 or so Sinophobic buddies (who have also been recently sanctioned by China):
(By the way, Nus Ghani was born in Kashmir, the most militarized region in the world where the Indian government has killed thousands of militants and has imposed severe Martial Laws. Perhaps Nus Ghani should focus on her birthplace or on Palestine).
**4. THREE percent of ONE legislative body does not speak for an entire nation. If there is truly a genocide happening, every member of the pretentious and sanctimonious UK parliament — including Boris Johnson and his cabinet — would have and should have participated in this vote.
**5. So, why can’t we get the exact number and name of the people who voted for this farcical, non-binding resolution? Because the vote was approved by voice! They didn’t even have the guts to go through a formal process. (The transcript of speeches for this resolution shows 22 people).
**6. This is not democracy or diplomacy. This is a circus of drunken monkeys. These handful of demagogues DON’T represent the House of Commons, let alone the entire country of the UK.
**7. A similar stunt was carried out in the U.N. in 2018, when ONE American went to ONE committee and made an unsubstantiated claim about “1 million Uyghurs in detention centers.” The media then turned this into a fake headline of “UN says China has 1 million people in concentration camps.”
**8. One last thing about this charade: The people passing the resolution couldn’t even properly pronounce the words “Uyghur” and “Xinjiang” — the clowns turned them into “Wee-JURS”, “Yoo-Gaar”, “Jen-Jaang” and “Jing-Jang.” And I bet, if you gave these people a map of China, most won’t be able to point to Xinjiang, the largest Chinese province that is also four times the size of Germany!
Non-intellectual politicians comprising non-majority of the parliament approving a non-binding resolution about a non-existing genocide.
Pure COMITRAGEDY.
The West spends too much time on propaganda and lies, trying to sabotage China’s rise. In my previous post, you can see how even in the 1990s, Western countries — USA, UK and others — were actively supporting Uyghur separatists and terrorists to destabilize and balkanize China. This pathetic Western strategy, devoid of morality, may slow down China’s rise by a couple of years, but won’t reverse the structural decline of America or Europe.
P.S. Here’s the link for the video of the actual proceedings.
P.P.S. If people are genuinely curious about the culture and lives of Uyghurs in China, they can go to YouTube and look up channels like Uyghur Television.
